Huddle Groups
What is a Huddle Group?
An intensive 9-session small group experience with 5-8 others that gives significant intentional priority and energy to learn how to live more like Jesus did.
A safe but challenging place of learning that centers on scripture and how spiritual and emotional maturity are inescapably linked. It is impossible to be spiritually but not emotionally mature.
A group we can count on and trust with a higher level of time investment and commitment. Including the incorporation of new spiritual practice and reading of a book in between sessions.
A place of teaching, discussion, authentic relationship, non-judgmental accountability and genuine transformation.
Led by trained Huddle Group leaders, using Emotionally Healthy Spirituality content.
Participants will need to purchase (from Council Tree at a discount rate) Emotionally Healthy Spirituality by Pete Scazzero, Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Workbook by Pete and Geri Scazzero, and Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day: A 40 day Journey with the Daily Office by Pete Scazzero.
They are called Huddles because that is where both reflection and decisions for future action happen. In sports, a great Huddle moves the team forward, but no one ever finished a game remarking only on the huddles. In the same way, these groups are intended to be focused on reflecting and deciding on what will inspire the lives we live to be more like Jesus. Unlike a small group the point is less about the group and more about how the rest of your life is transformed.
As a church we are convinced that becoming more like Jesus each year on purpose, or “intentional discipleship” is central to who we are called to grow into. This is year two of the Huddle Group effort that is designed to move us in that direction.
